The Sustainable Planning Act sets out the statutory timeframes for Development Assessment. The timeframes apply to both Council and the applicant & are lawfully binding. It is worth noting that these timeframes are maximums and therefore we seek Council perform their tasks well under their allocated timeframe. We always endeavour to perform our tasks in the most timely manner to ensure the application is kept moving through the process.

The wheels are in motion for the precinct, yesterday awarded a Priority Development Area, a move that will give "surety" to developers with little recourse for any appeals against an approval, to become the Gold Coast's true central business district.
The Bulletin understands the owners of Australia Fair is considering the redevelopment of its water-facing shopping mall which includes adding a tower to the existing site and a refurbishment of the mall.
In addition, the site which housed the old Star of the Sea school has also "gone to market" with the Sisters of Mercy looking at offloading the prime piece of land just north of Australia Fair.
North Queensland Bio-energy secures equity funding

Construction of a $500 million State Government approved renewable power, sugar and bio products facility in Ingham, North Queensland, is on target for completion in 2016 following a breakthrough agreement with an international partner announced today.
In a joint statement, North Queensland Bio-Energy Corporation Limited (NQBE) and China’s Nanning Good Fortune Heavy Industry Co. Ltd (GFHI) said the two companies had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in relation to the provision of equity and supply of plant and equipment for the ground-breaking project.
